Microneedling – SkinPen®

What to Expect from a Microneedling Treatment

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment that stimulates the skin’s natural healing process to rejuvenate and repair. Using the FDA-cleared SkinPen® device, your provider creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin, triggering new collagen and elastin production.

This regenerative process helps improve the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Uneven skin texture and tone

  • Enlarged pores

  • Acne or surgical scars

  • Mild skin laxity

Treatment Duration: 45–60 minutes

Before Your Treatment

Please arrive with clean skin, free of makeup and skincare products. Your provider will apply a topical numbing cream for approximately 30 minutes before beginning the procedure to ensure optimal comfort throughout your treatment.

During the Treatment

Once your skin is numb, the provider will gently glide the SkinPen® device across the treatment area. The sterile, precision needles create micro-channels in the skin’s surface, stimulating collagen remodeling. Most patients describe the sensation as light pressure or a mild buzzing feeling, with minimal discomfort.

After the Treatment

Following your microneedling session, it’s common to experience mild redness—similar to a light sunburn—along with temporary dryness, tightness, or flaking. These effects typically resolve within 24–72 hours.

You may apply makeup and sunscreen 24 hours post-treatment unless otherwise directed by your provider. Your skin will gradually appear smoother, more even, and more radiant as new collagen develops in the weeks following your session.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

While some patients notice visible improvement after a single session, optimal results are typically achieved with a series of 3–6 treatments spaced about four weeks apart.

For more challenging concerns, such as deeper scars or significant texture changes, additional sessions may be recommended. To maintain results and support long-term skin health, we suggest a maintenance treatment every 3–4 months.
